  • You’ve set up a WordPress based site, you’ve written a few articles now you want to make monies!
Off you trot signing up for as many ad networks & affiliate sites as possible but … woooh! Hold on! How are you supposed to keep track of all those banners that you now want to display on your shiny new blog?

You might want to only advertise at specific times, you’ll definitely want to record when the banners expire, their placement or order, track impressions, click-through rate etc.
The easiest way to save time, and therefore money, is by installing some ad management plugins into your WordPress blog.
As there are many options, the best is to simply install a few, test, delete and install a few more until you finally find the easiest option for you to work with going forward to manage your ads & banners.

9 recommendations that we hope will help you along the way to being a blogging billionaire:

Thanks so much to Lee for this article. He has shared some valuable tools that you can use to monetise your WordPress websites & blogs.

Another WordPress plugin I use for banner ads is MaxBlogPress Ads Plugin. It’s another free plugin to use.

      Anybody have any other suggestions?

Yes, I can see the resemblance!

Get yourself a Gravatar.com account to fix it!

I use WP-Ad-Manager, plus I see you use Max Banner Ads, which is also good.

You Have not listed my latest plugin – which is really loved by everyone. It shows keyword or tag based affiliate ads from amazon, clickbank and ebay.
This means if your post contains “leather bag” it shows only those ads matching this keyword.
Here it is – WP Affiliate Ads Plugin

      Hey man,

Do you know of any plugins that will serve ads on my site based on the content?

So for example: my blog is about health and making money.

So when people see my health content they see the health ads.

Or when people see my make money content they see my make money ads.

      Does this exist?

If not, it should be! LOL

      Thanks,
      Bryan

        Hey Bryan,

the easiest option to have relevant ads to your content is to put affiliate banners/text ads of relevant products chosen by yourself (like mine, the sidebar has only Internet marketing related products).

if you want to automate it then you can use Google Adsense to do this, but be aware your earning potential is very low with adsense unless you are getting tons of traffic to the site seeing/clicking on the ads. I’d go for affiliate ads picked by you that are relevant.

        Does that help?

Bryan also if you have something like an Amazon aStore widget on your sidebar/site you can ask it to only show products that are related to the content on your site.
