Ping List for RSS feeds, blogs, etc
Hey there! Welcome back to The Internet Marketing Highway..you've obviously been here before but incase you haven't yet done so, why not subscribe to my RSS feed for regular updates & new content.
Any blog owner should have a few reliable ping sites that they use to feed their RSS updates to, in order to let the Internet know that their blog/website has something new on it.
Here is a list of reliable ping sites that I and other leading Internet Marketers recommend for use with your blogs…
If you are using WordPress to blog then go to the ‘Writing’ settings from your admin section and add the following sites to the ‘Update Services’ section. Whilst you do that, download and install the plugin called MaxBlogPress Ping Optimizer which will help you setup your ping list to avoid being imposed with a ping ban. Basically, WordPress automatically (i.e. by default setting) pings pingomatic everytime you add, edit, save as draft, schedule a new post…doing this too often will be seen as spam and you’ll get banned from pinging. The plugin limits this and only pings the sites when you actually publish a new post and not when you amend an existing post or save a draft.
Here is the list….enjoy:

This is nice read. Thanks.
Thanks for your comment.
Hi Suraj,
When the list is pasted into Ping Optimizer, is it expected that they don’t stay in the box when the Settings are Saved?
Look forward to seeing you in Bristol again in 2010, I’ll hope to make the workshop this time!
Regards, Chris
Hi Chris
I can see the list in the box after saving…are you pasting each ping site on one line, like above?
UPDATE: Since posting this article, it has come to my attention that many of the above ping sites do not actually work and the ping fails. What you should do is just delete the ones that don’t work from the list above.
Hi Suraj,
I’m wondering if I have the same plug-in. It’s cbnet Ping Optimizer 2.3 which is an activation/subscription free fork of MaxBlogPress Ping Optimizer.
This may explain the difference. It does state on the Settings page that the list is synchronized with the ones on the Writing Settings page.
Every blog that wants to generate traffic should have a good ping list. There are services on the internet that track blogs. Pinging lets those services know that your blog has been updated. The purpose of pinging is to notify those services that you want them to crawl and index your site. Ultimately, you want to let the world know that your blog has fresh content.
Thanks Suraj for that interesting post. I knew about the pinglist from SuperFastResults Forum but I didn’t know that the plugin you mention is so useful:)
I’m going to get it right now.
This is some great info
